Mykayla and Alex met freshman year of high school at a mutual friend’s house swimming. Mykayla’s friend’s brother dared Alex to kiss her and that was the beginning of four years of flirting in the halls at school, which eventually led the two to start dating after they graduated.
In 2016 a friend of Mykayla’s is a pilot, so he took them up in his airplane on October 22nd for a night flight. They flew around Oklahoma City for about an hour. She even got to fly the plane herself. Alex was so in love with it, he really wants to take pilot classes now. They both loved it. After they landed and got back to the Jeep, Alex proposed to her. They had been talking about being married for years but it was super sweet because Alex was still nervous!
When I asked Mykayla to describe their ceremony this is what she said: “The ceremony was so perfect for us. It was just Alex and me, plus Shelby and Colbe. We casually got ready for the day while hanging out in our cool downtown Buena Vista apartment. We made Alex get in our Jeep and wait for me to finish getting ready and put my dress on. We didn’t want him to peek on the way to the location, so we made him turn all of the mirrors away from the back seat. After we got to our “First Look” spot, Alex waited for me on the snowy hillside. His face was so sweet when he first saw me. Then we drove a little further to the actual location where we wanted to say our vows. It was so gorgeous looking out over the valley and at the giant mountains. We then exchanged vows, which were so perfect and so us. I was teary-eyed the whole time because I have dreamed of this moment with Alex for such a long time. I think what made it special was mainly the fact that it was just us, in a beautiful location, and it was exactly what we had wanted. Shelby and Colbe were AWESOME and made it even better. I’m so glad we have pictures of our big day to cherish forever!”
Mykayla said it perfectly, their day was really something to remember and I couldn’t be any more grateful to her and Alex that they chose us to be a part of documenting it. Congratulations you two!
