Earlier this week I saw a Facebook post about a mountain of wild poppies in the desert and there was no way that I wasn’t going to check them out. We found some time and planned the trip! We searched for a couple of friends to go with us to model but we couldn’t find anybody who wasn’t sick or working, I was bummed but Colbe, being the sweetest husband ever, said we could go anyway! So we put on our model faces and hoped in the car! *JOKES* We always have so much fun going new places and seeing new things. We love that our job gets to take us all over Arizona to meet fabulous people and eat at random and delicious small town restaurants.
Here’s some directions if you are wanting to go find the flowers yourself! If you don’t get to go quick they may be gone. Rumor has it that they are only around for about two weeks and I’m not sure how long they have been out there. So run don’t walk!
We drove just an hour and a half up to Globe. When we got to Globe we stopped at the last Circle K (on the left) before leaving town to get a San Carlos Recreation Pass. The passes are $10 and totally worth it so you don’t have to worry about being allowed to be out there. We continued our drive for what felt like 15-20 minutes, untill we saw mile post 267 then kept our eyes pealed for a dirt road on the North Side of I-70. You can see the hills covered in orange from the interstate if you happen to miss it like we did. The dirt road is pretty rough, I wouldn’t recommend taking a small car out there though our Honda CRV did manage the road pretty well. Enjoy!
